Ground Control Chippery newcastle

Something unexpected by this chip shop...they have a trained barista who makes a nice smooth coffee. This is now my regular take away when bringing my little one to the play ground across the road or just going for a walk beside the lake.

Tried these guys for the first time the other night - the serving size of chips for $5.00 is very generous! Delicious as well. Ordered a potato scallop, and got an extra one chucked in for free. None of this cardboard box business either, nicely wrapped in paper. It's like going to a fish and chip shop back in the day! Will be back for sure.

Beautiful day on the Esplanade meant a 40 min wait for lunch, the staff warned us so we cycled the Lake and returned. Hamburgers and fish and chips were our order and our overall impression was only so so.... Hand cut chips and battered fish. The fish lacked flavour and wasn't firm and the chips a bit over cooked. Hamburger had all the elements but was let down by a chewy flat bun and over cooked patty. At some stage we will try again when they aren't so busy..

A good experience. Casual, take away vibe with plenty of tables and chairs. Friendly, upbeat staff who threw in an extra scallop. While seafood and chips were on the greasy side, they were still tasty, with a nice, zingy tartare. Huge serving of chips too.

Not too bad overall. Good value - lots of food for your money. Not enough staff on, which meant that it took a while to cook as the staff were trying to do too many things at once. Battered fish wasn't much chop, but the calamari rings were wonderful. Friendly staff.

Great chips, poor service. Went in to order at 7:15, their site says they would close at 10. The woman at the counter was very clearly taking a phone order and told the customer it would take 10 minutes. While she was saying this, another person in the kitchen told me they were closed and couldn't take my order. Very disappointed as they're the best chips in Newcastle but the service has absolutely gone downhill

Ground control have awesome food, but lately they have been disappointing for a few reasons. 1 being that they haven't been staying open, and I dont mean they shut at 9, I mean they have been shutting by 7pm or earlier. 2 being that their home made chips have been frozen chips recently. They have excellent food usually and has been one of my favourites but if they keep doing these things they will lose me and my family who spend a minimum of $50 each time we order.

This takeaway shop is illegally refusing to serve customers who have medical exceptions to not wear a mask. Avoid this place. There are plenty of other options.

Great friendly staff food was delicious cant beat the old fish & chip shop even on a rainy cloudy day, keen to go back & try there burgers they look yummy
