I went here on Saturday evening and arrived just before 2am. I planned to meet my fiancee inside as she was already there. The bouncer informed me that the bar was now closed. I asked him if it would be possible to speak with my fiancee with the intention of informing her that I was not able to enter and would go home. He told me that he was sure that my fiancee would be fine. Inside the pub, you do not get a phone signal and so there was no way for me to contact my fiancee. I eventually had to ask someone in the someone in the smoking area to find her to convey my message. If you are looking for a fun experience, I wouldn't suggest this place. Their door staff don't really care about you.

Posted here about this place before. I adore it here. Seem to remember it used to be open 24hrs a day and walking out of there in the daylight after watching a mixture of live music, karaoke with a band, and some random drunks singing for the sheer hell of it. No longer though. It's a diamond of a place and highly recommended for its friendly staff, great bands and reasonably priced drinks. The little rooms down below are ideal to talk if you want to not be too close to the music. Otherwise get close to the bands and enjoy the madness of it all! If it did food it'd be dangerous. Go and feel Binkies seep into your soul...

We did some research on venues with live music in Edinburgh and decided to pay a visit to Whistlebinkies last night. There was a small queue and so we waited for about 30 minutes before we were let in. We were told on entry that there was a £5 entry fee for each of us, which we were happy to pay and did so. We were then led to our table which was located in an enclosed cave which smelt so strongly of urine that we actually didn't even wait around to be served. The other people who had also entered the venue and sat near us did the same thing. We were nowhere near the band, could barely hear them from the cave and the smell of urine was unbearable. I am still furious that we were charged entry for what I can only describe as a sewer table. I would absolutely not recommend attending this venue.

The ambiance is incredible-- everything one could ask for in a pub in Old Town. But I especially loved the live entertainment! The night I went, an act called King Fast was playing, and it was SO great! Good show, good time, good crowd; would recommend.
