We have been customers of John Gowing since 1987 when my wife bought a beautiful watch for me as a wedding present. Going into the Gowing shop in the Oxford Market you are assured of two things. First a warm and friendly greeting and second first class service. I would not dream of going elsewhere for either jewellery or another watch. Do not pass up on the opportunity of visiting this lovely shop in Oxford.

Very helpful and professional. I was looking for a sapphire and diamond ring for my wife's 50th. The staff could not have been more helpful and professional. I was even given a chocolate mini egg while my wife was choosing! Kind and helpful and highly recommended, thank you.

I've used these jewellers many times over the years for watch batteries, straps etc. and always had a great service. Recently went in there to buy an engagement ring (she said yes!!) and thought I really must leave a review.. Fantastic service from start to finish, helping to talk me through loads of options all well within my budget, and I eventually settled on a bespoke one exactly as I'd imagined. Visited the shop with my partner today. The service was exemplary and all the staff were friendly and efficient, even remembering the last time we visited! For a small shop they have a large selection of watches and jewellery, and both my partner and I were very pleased with our purchases. Definitely a 5 star experience and worth a visit.

I would highly recommend John Gowing Jewellers, having entrusted the repair of a precious family heirloom signet ring, from my grandfather, which I had managed to catch and bend completely out of shape. Asking for a more substantial band to replace an inferior repair carried out previously elsewhere, I entrusted the repair to John Gowing Jewellers with a result far exceeding my expectations, both with a perfectly proportioned new thicker band, and the whole thing polished to perfection, as if it was brand new, despite the head being over a 100 years old, with a perfect match of gold colour between original head, and new band. It will proudly sit on my finger, until the time comes for it to be passed down to my son.

Replaced the battery on my Omega watch in under 40 mins. No fuss at a very reasonable cost.

Went shopping for an eternity ring. Having been studiously ignored as we waited for assistance in a high street jeweller, we left and went to John Gowing. We were met with a bright 'Good morning'. We were torn between a ring here and one in another independent shop. We returned for a second look and they told us to take a photo so we could compare. Despite not making a purchase they were just lovely. We were so impressed and so guilty that we didn't choose theirs that we will return when more jewellery is needed. Shouldn't be long! Good old fashioned service is alive and kicking in this shop.
