Like a previous reviewer, I am compelled to write a negative review about the Laura Ashley in Summertown after encountering a very rude member of their staff team. After a series of problems with an order, the tip of the iceberg was also the obnoxious store manager.
On 2 January, I placed an order on Laura Ashley's website for click and collect at the Summertown store. The confirmation said that it should arrive in-store within a week or some such. (I'm a bit surprised there is no confirmation for the actual day it arrives.)
Approximately two weeks after I placed the order, I went to the store (which is 12 miles away from our house). In store, I was told that there was no order yet received by the store for me, and to try again later.
Two weeks later, I came back--sure it would be there by then--and was again told that nothing had arrived. I was told to contact Laura Ashley HQ customer services; so I did. In February, I phoned customer services and they told me it had been signed for in the first week of January by a member of the store team and they gave me his name.
This time I phoned the store and spoke to a woman who was very helpful. They had no record of the item on their click and collect sheet, but the woman took my phone number and said she would look into it. 'Lo and behold, she found the items--hooray! She put my name on the designated parcel and said I could come get it any time.
Meanwhile, I was away for a few weeks at the end of February and just had a very busy first week of March, so I literally was only able to get to the store today.
The woman I spoke to in-store, I can only call unfriendly and abrupt. (I believe her to be the notorious store manager.) She had the audacity to chide me for not having the order paperwork with me and interrupted me when I tried to explain to her that it wouldn't be on her sheets and that I had spoken to someone on the phone and the whole thing had been a bit of a nightmare. Honestly, I am a friendly person. I'm also a yoga teacher, so generally, I'm pretty calm and try to see the best in people. Yet, at the store today, I felt like a school child being told off by the teacher. She had no interest in what I was saying and truly acted as if I was clearly at fault for whatever had happened. After everything I've been through with this order, it was astonishing.
To top it off, I actually really dislike one of the pieces in the order, but I'm past the 28-day return limit even though I only just got the items today.
Bleh. I would say, "Avoid!" Big time.
