The Receptionists are only Receptionists and not qualified Doctors at this surgery

The Receptionists are not qualified Doctors or Registered Nurses at this his forsaken surgery. This needs to be implemented in their next training session. If I were a qualified Doctors or GP I would not choose to take up a posiition with this surgery. Patient care at least in my case has been abysmal over last three years due to not being able to get a face to face appointment or great difficulty in securing a telephone call which worsened my cardiaccondition which is short if neglect. It’s time this surgery was closing down as it’s apparent that they cannot cope with the workload presented. Phone today after consultant cardiology visit to talk over medications and ordering of same. Met with s receptionist who told me to phone back at 8am in the morning. She did ask if I was in a life threatening position! It’s laughable. Would not contact this surgery if I had been. Time this surgery was investigated.

Slow! Really below par health care. You must call at 8:00 sharp to get a use on day appointment, theyre all gone by 08:30. If you call at exactly 8 the phone line is engaged and when you finally get through and all the appointments are gone the rude receptionist has the cheek to tell you to try calling at 8 o'clock. They don't have a proper phone system so there is no caller queue just engaged dial tone or "you've dialled an incorrect number". If you try to book an appointment for a future date your looking at a month from the day you are calling for the first available appointment. You basically always get a locum so there's no consistency.

Very disappointing service on a number of occasions. One time I was let down when my asthma repeat prescription was withheld until I made an appointment with the nurse! I'd been getting over prescribed the same meds for years and my asthma was stable enough with less frequent supplies. More recently the ENT at Lauriston Place gave me a letter for my doctor which turned out to be a request for a prescription. Did the staff let me know? Turns out it's not their policy. 2 months later I found out while in for a general appointment. Today I turned up for an asthma review. 45 mins of waiting and watching several patients coming and going before I asked how long I still had to wait. The receptionist checked with the doctor that had clearly forgotten about me. It appeared that at least my appointment was on a piece of paper and not the system where everyone else's was! Since the doc currently had a patient, I was advised to wait further then ultimately to reschedule!

I've had only good experiences during my visits to Polwarth Medical Practice. They've moved into the Leven Medical site on Ponton St but still operate as an individual practice. GPs are great; the nurses are lovely and the reception staff are helpful and friendly. I've had no trouble getting an appointment when I need one. Would definitely recommend.

This is my second review; the first was a bad one... However! I recently saw a DR their about a hand injury, she was kind an attentive, she booked me in for an xray within 1 day (it wasn't in anyway an emergency but I was worried about it). Within two weeks she explained the results and told me how to get physio from NHS. The reception seem MUCH nicer now and very organised. For anyone who doesn't know this was a private pratice until the primary Dr passed away a couple of years ago and it is now an NHS practice (some of teh Dr's were reluctant I assume to have this change) but now it's a great practice and im still happily registered there
