Turning into the main hospital entrance, turn left at the mini roundabout and facing you is Chancellor wing car park .It has been remodelled into a one way system. There are 17 disabled/accessible parking spaces(blue badge) around which the system flows .There are 5 other parking bays .There is also a taxi pick up and drop off area Space also allocated to five ambulance bays as this is the main outpatients wing . There are dropped kerbs on all footpaths and a pedestrian zone has been made around the outside of the area and separated with bollards’up to the main entrance Unfortunately I also noticed that there are those drivers who think they can park where they like as the rules don’t apply to them !!! The wing entrance and all floors are flat and level doors are automatically opened . Inside on your left is the ambulance station and patients transport waiting area. On your right is the reception (not always manned). In front of you is a cafe and newsagent and slightly right is another cafe . This in turn leads to Boots the chemist .Stair and lift access to outpatients.and access to other departments . There are actually wc facilities including disabled /accessible . Downside :-I couldn’t find an ATM .

Ward 29 was home to my dad for 5 weeks, having succumbed to Covid-19 shortly before his 86th birthday. The staff were amazing in nursing him through his crisis and in managing his families expectations. From setting up a DNRto his gradual recovery so that he could return home last Sunday. Thank you all for giving g us all the best Christmas gift we could have imagined.Amazing people with such a difficult job.
