Act like bullies rather than do their job. I got attacked in my van by a road worker while out on a job. Went to report to the police and the site supervisor. The man who attacked me got his friend to report me as had my gardening tools on me, and he lied and said I was carrying a knife. This was not questioned by the police. When the police arrived on scene I flagged them down yet they came straight over in an aggressive way and put me in handcuffs. I was in shock, I had no idea why and instantly got an anxiety attack. I had just been stood there before, chatting to the site manager, upset, but calm considering. Even when they established it was a gardening tool they did not release me, even though I had just been attacked myself and it had been me who had phoned them, I was terrified, It made my blood sugar rocket to over 20. They did no more than 'have a word' with the man who attacked me and tried to open my van door to drag me out, while they insisted I was not allowed to handle my gardening tools myself to put back in van. They are legal tools, I was carrying them in a legal way, while out on a job using them and because the police could not be bothered to ask questions, if I was threatening anyone with it, could they actually see it was a knife as it was in a case, but rather than that they continued to treat me like a criminal. I have been carrying these tools around for the past 6 years with no problem. I will never look at the police as anyone to protect me, just as bullies. I don't think they are very well trained or good at their job if they react in such knee jerk ways to situations that do not warrant it whatsoever.
