I was a patient in October 2018 at the Coventry (Walsgrave site) BMI Meridan hospital and found all medical and care aspects of my treatment to be excellent. All of the staff, from receptionists to nursing, were courteous, kind and knowledgeable. My consultant called me by my name and spoke to my wife too. He explained the operation clearly and follow up visits were always punctual if not before the due time. With regard to parking I am lucky in that I can get a bus to drop me off at the site although times required me getting to know the coffee shop rather well! As an overall experience I would thoroughly recommend this hospital.

I had surgery on the 29th July. My admittance was fine and easy, I was shown up to my room and was checked over and told about the procedure, this was all fine and as expected. One concern here was that the room was not entirely clean as there was some dust and crumbs near the bedside table, I expeceted it to be spotless but i overlooked this and just wanted everything to go well with good care. Following my surgery and just after waking from anesthetic, I was wheeled back to my room on the bed, this is where the major issues started. I was left in the room with the door wide open and the emergency button out of reach, I was in discomfort and was not able to move to get it. The nurse did not come back to check up on me at all, an hour passed and the surgeon then came in whilst walking past to discuss the procedure, before he left I asked if he could place the emergency button closer to me and to close the door, which I am grateful he did. A nurse then came finally to ask if I had got up out of bed, I was advised to not get out of bed without a nurse being there following general anesthetic, so was surprised I was asked this. I was also asked if I had passed fluid but had not, he then left a few hours passed and he returned a few times to ask if I had, after 3 hours and still not passing fluid I felt like the nurse was getting annoyed by the amount of time it was taking and just wanted me discharged. I eventually did pass fluid and called for the nurse, I was told i can remove the bandage before I leave. I did not want to do this myself as I was concerned i could open the stitches up and asked if he could help. He was not gentle at all and literally just ripped it off, there was some blood coming out after this so was given some gauze and told to hold it for 5 to 10 minutes. After i was asked if i had someone to collect me which i did and was told I can leave. I was not given a complete thorough discharge I felt that it was rushed and some key aspects overlooked. I think the hospital is good overall going by appointments I've been to but my experience following surgery was far from the best.

I have been a NHS patient at this hospital on three separate occasions. The nursing treated me with respect and kindness. The doctors were courteous, patient and took the time to explain everything clearly. The outcome of all the treatment I received left me more than happy. I choose to travel 25 miles to this hospital rather than a choice of two within 3 miles of my home.

Appalling communication and administration at this hospital. My father's operation, which he was self-funding, was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and a slew of poor communication followed. I made an official complaint requesting compensation but it was rejected. We will never go there again.

Mr Bansal treated me for cataracts in both eyes and went to great lengths to ensure I made the correct choice of lenses to have inserted. He provided two comprehensive booklets explaining the full procedures involved in the operation and, in great detail, the full range of lenses available. During appointments he made sure that I understood fully the advantages and potential disadvantages of each type of lens. He personally checked my previous eye history to make sure there would be no complications with the operation or with my final choice of lens. As a result I had every faith in his ability and had no apprehension about the operation. I was impressed by his calm and pleasant manner and excellent rapport with theatre colleagues and hospital staff. I am delighted with the results of both eyes treated. After a lifetime of short-sightedness, I no longer need to wear glasses for any distance: reading, middle or far distance. I cannot recommend Mr Bansal highly enough.

Absolutely brilliant experience at this hospital. All the staff were so helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. They check up regular, especially after an operation and the food and catering staff are top drawer as well! The Dr, Das Gupta was one of the best and very knowledgable and attention to the details is impressive. Overall a massive credit to private hospital sector. Thank You.

If you try to telephone the hospital forget it you'll never get through! I have been trying to contact them for 4 days I have spoken to one person and I am still non the wiser. I was due to have a follow up appointment on Tuesday to get MRI results and a plan going forward. I was telephoned by the hospital the week prior asking if I could change from a face to face appointment to a telephone appointment due to staffing issues, which I agreed to, I was then asked if I could change from 9.30am to 8.45am, again I agreed. My husband planned to go into work later that day so he could hear the telephone call too. I never received a call and I never received an explanation as to why I haven't received a call. So I tried to telephone two different numbers one was an answer phone I left two messages I still haven't received a call back. I attempted to telephone the hospital main number on 4 separate occasions getting through once and explaining the above to be told they didn't know why the consultant didn't phone me and they would email the consultant to try and find out what was going on. That was three days ago and I am still waiting. Once again I have tried to telephone twice and held for at least 20 minutes on each occasion before having to hang up. I have also sent two emails requesting a call back and guess what.... No one has replied. This treatment is shocking. Unfortunately I have a chronic illness so I spend a lot of time in/at hospital and I receive better/efficient treatment at UHCW, so what are all the expensive costs for exactly?!! It's certainly not for an efficient service, or a good bedside manner. I usually use the Warwickshire Nuffield and I will be sure to do so in the future. If you have a choice, there is no question which one you should use!

Unprofessional. They do not keep the appointment or check the problems the patient has. Took me three weeks to try and see a doctor for private before giving up and finding another hospital because they kept on either changing my appointment in a telephonic call or 'forgetting' to make my appointment after the telephonic call.
