Royal Derby Hospital Emergency Room derby

My partner recently had to go to A & E. Having had a bad experience at another hospital some years ago, it's quite an ordeal for her. Whilst we were there quite some time, because they were particularly busy, we could not fault the care given. All the staff were friendly and very reassuring. They kept us informed throughput. I couldn't help but marvel at the team spirit of the place, it was a pleasure to observe. Thank you!

Was not looking forward to my echocardiogram, I thought it was never going to end I had a trainee who was very rough couldn't find bits of my heart my ribs were obstructing. Have spent two days with sore ribs

I went with my partner who had a head injury and this is the first time we had been since it moved from the old DRI. Firstly it isn't made clear that you first have to go to a BLUE area to book in. Secondly he was assessed within the hour which was very good, however it went downhill after that. He was sent to EDA.... are you supposed to know this means Emergency Department A??? What a joke it was once we entered, we sat and waited and waited before overhearing there was a 4 and a half hour wait, it wasn't even busy.After 3 hours we went through to another waiting area. again not that busy, but the waiting times were going up, first 5 then 6 and last we heard was another 7 hours waiting time. After sitting there for 7 hours we decided to leave as he still hadn't been seen. I assumed that a head injury was a priority, silly me it seems it isn't. I have the greatest respect for our NHS but my god the staff in this department were rude and there was no sense of any urgency about any of them. Some elderly people had been there almost 10 hours without being offered a drink or food. Once again why do we pay our taxes etc?

I went with my partner at10pm she was pregnant and had to wait till 6am to see a doctor, I wish nobody get Sick or injured to go to place like this

The children emergency A&E is located close by. Make sure to park close by to reduce distance. Staff and facilities are good and to a high standard. Please call 111NHS help line to seek advice. Once in location follow signs to a&e
