So sat in A&E now for a delightful four hours, surrounded by the finest Hull has to offer, sadly a poor endorsement for the area as the vast majority of the people waiting are clearly heroin or cocaine addicts. Witnessed a poor chap on a drip, I say poor chap as the bag on his drip has been empty for the past two hours and he hasn’t been attended to. Waiting has little to offer in the way of passing time, so noting that not a single person has been called for treatment for 41 minutes at time of writing this review speak volumes for the standard of care on offer, many a dehydrated person sat around with not so much as a vending machine on offer. Classic example of Tory Britain, I pay an eye watering amount of tax and national insurance monthly for this rubbish, sitting here, I can’t for a second see where my contributions are being invested.

Weds 21st Aug I had an agonising pain in my gut and ended up in A&E at HRI Anlaby Rd... after they determined my condition I was moved to Castle Hill - Ward 15 Urology. The care I recieved from Doctors and Nurses and supporting staff was excellant the nurses never stop working they gave that 'extra' to make me feel comfortable and pain free. I would like to say a big thank you to this 5 star team who are a credit to the hospital, the medical profession and our wonderful NHS. Roger Prince

Unfortunately the entrance to this place appears to be the area for smokers, fed up with having to avoid getting a lung full before attending the chest clinic. Also needs a good clean up. Staff smoking by the bus stop in uniform, doesn't create a good impression.

Really an odd hospital. Had some first rate care from genuinely compassionate staff while here on several occasions. They have a fantastic eye clinic and I cannot fault the medical staff once you get to see them. The lack of 5* is due to a lack of organisation. Had a DVT and developed a second one so came to Hull. Previous DVT I attended Scarborough a we are sort of between there and Hull. Got bloods and meds and discharged withing 4 hours... At Hull Royal and been nearly 10 hours and so far they have taken my bloods (to confirm the clot that they have said they know I have????) Waiting for ultrasound and ask reception after 3 hours sat waiting if they have any idea of progress to be asked why I haven't gone but then they said "ooops no one has rung them yet!"... Glad I was only categorised "Urgent to have scans done in 2 hours" over 22 hours ago. I appreciate that the staff work hard and are woefully unsupported and such like but a huge hospital like this should have some level of competence.

Waiting for a long time in A and E. No indication of waiting times. It would be udeful to know waiting times so you can judge whether you can go for a drink from the disappointing cafe in the foyer, or indeed go on holiday whilst you are waiting to be seen. Rapid booking in electronic system, there is nothing rapid about this system.

Couldn't be happier with the level of care they gave my girlfriend and new daughter. The midwives were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. And while we had less interaction with other doctors and nurses, when we did, they provided excellent care.

My daughter went twice to this place, first time with fever over 41 degrees and beginning of diarrhea and was diagnosed with viral infection and sent home to take calpol. Second time after 2 weeks of constant diarrhea and with fever again over 39 degrees doctor said that it is normal and can last for more than 2 weeks. Thanks God we came back to Poland yesterday basically in last moment as she was diagnosed with salmonella spreading infection and pneumonia. Now staying in hospital in Poland and taking strong antybiotics.Few days more in England and she would get sepsis. The doctors didn't check her blood in Hull Royal they didn't test her poo. This is unreal how terrible this place is
