I was prompted to leave this review having read some of the negative comments about Pembroke Surgery, these are very different to my experience. My family have been patients of Pembroke Surgery since the 1990s, recently we should be getting loyalty points for the amount of times we have needed their services. This year, 2019, our experience has continued to be positive with some really helpful support on the phone and from the reception team.

Going around in circles with the nurse. I go in about one thing and spend the time going on and on about an unrelated condition I've had all my life, which I've had to tell the nurse several times that she's wrong with what she's been telling me. Waste of time, and I've spent years talking to far more qualified people than her about it. Can't self cert any more so asked the nurse for a letter / note for work, she said I had to go through reception. Reception had never heard of anything like that and the most they could offer was a stamped appointment card. Not been in Reading long and this is probably the worst experience I've had with a doctors

Generally good surgery - The doctors and medical staff are good and I can get an appointment with ease. Sometimes the same day, often the day or two afterwards.. I've seen a few really harsh reviews on here about the receptionists. They've never been rude to me, they're always polite but they do occasionally seem busy and I guess like everyone in the NHS at the moment they're overworked. The reviews on here suggest a lack of empathy by the people writing the reviews rather than anything else - it's a shame people don't have more compassion for other humans. I dropped a star because, without fail, you will wait 30 minutes extra. It's not great but I've never been to a doctor's surgery where that doesn't happen. The other reason for dropping a star is their telephone system. It never works so you just waste time and end up calling back and holding for someone to pick up.

I phoned this afternoon to cancel a booster jab appointment and was met by a rude, condescending receptionist on the other end of the line. I’m not asking to be spoken to like I am royalty, but I do expect a basic level of common decency when having a conversation. I think communication training is desperately needed.

Prescribing pharmacist is so rude and unprofessional he tries to act like a doctor and steps way out of line , why when you call for a gp appointment do you get put in with him? The rest of the staff were fine but they seriously need a new pharmacist !
