Didn't have to wait too long to be seen (30 minutes for triage, then out again in 5 hours on a Saturday night) in A&E. If it is not life threatening everything that is must take priority over you. If you don't understand this, you're an idiot and you don't deserve to be treated at all. If you go with something trivial like an insect bite or stomach ache, you should be fined for wasting their time.

Firstly, this isn't a review of the staff who work at the A&E as they all do a fantastic job. This is a review of the facility itself. Frankly it's staggering that this is the only emergency facility for a major city. It's tired, drab, uncomfortable and in very serious need of updating. For some reason when we had cause to attend in the dead of winter, the heating was on so high we all had to strip to our t-shirts, and it was still uncomfortably hot. None of the drinks machines were working, and there are no water coolers or other drinking facilities. Chairs are uncomfortable for the length of time patients are asked to wait. A very poor facility.

I went several times to the emergency the last week because I felt horrible, saying there is a stomach bug, but passed 6 days since then and now I have stomach "burns" and I shake all the time when my intestines are not working properly. I don't know what else to do, beside taking the recommended Paracetamol...

Staff are awful and rude have no time for anyone apart from someone coming in on drugs or if they are an Alcho. Someone coming in with chest pain heart pain and can't physically breathe and they just turn them away even though they came in an ambulance is outrageous. The ambulance staff left me stood waiting in A&E while they decided to have a chat about how they like to paint their walls instead of signing me in and getting a nurse to me. When I asked to speak to someone higher up one of the staff laughed at me and said "U won't find anyone higher up then me" even though she was a nurse and there was people around I could of spoke to. Northern Genral is a absolute mess and their staff need to get there acts together. Need to start helping the people coming in with something wrong with them instead of laughing in their faces.

I have been today and there was a bit of a queue at reception. I had to wait an hour to get triaged. What wonderful staff they have. Very professional and friendly, the triage staff were great. I had my ECG done by a brilliant staff nurse, very friendly and she put me at ease. When I did get treated I was dealt with by Doctor Nick Fraser. Nick was respectful, super professional and explained exactly what treatment I needed. Bonus points for giving me the prescription medication I needed. I was there a long time but it was worth it. Thank you all very much, my tax deductions are certainly worth it. Hope I’m not back anytime soon. Thank you to the people on reception and the nurse that gave me my tetanus shot. Be nice and they will treat you accordingly.

An absolute shambles, they're that busy that people are queuing out of the main entrance. On arrival I joined what I thought was the queue for reception, only to discover much later they were patients who'd already been booked in. Also due to ongoing Covid restrictions only about 40-50% of the painfully uncomfortable seats are available for use, causing patients undue pain & distress, people are basically having to sit outside on the concrete blocks. The only saving grace is that the weather is pleasant, which is more than I can say about my visit.

Went with serious symptoms, despite being very busy was seen very quickly and treated. When its urgent the NHS comes into its own. Faultless care.
