Great time here, spent over four hours in the museum and quilt exhibition. Still didn't manage to see all of the gardens. The American heritage section was particularly well laid out and very interesting.

I had to rush around the museum because I have an impatient toddler, but it gets 5 stars for the garden alone - absolutely stunning and so well kept, and what a view! Just a lovely place to visit, whether you want to learn about American history or not!!

Enchanted garden was great with nice light show but paths themselves dimly lit in places so take care with trip hazards. Really friendly and welcoming staff except in car park where they didn't direct us and signage was poor. First year so just snags to work out ahead of next year. Worth a visit for sure

5/ 5

"The American Museum provides a fabulous day out for all adults and children. The New American Garden, Mount Vernon Garden, and play area “The Children’s Garden” awaits explorers of all ages. From winding paths and colourful flowers to woodland wanders with your four-legged friends (yes, dogs on leads are welcome!) and climbing adventures, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Housed in a fine Georgian manor house with outstanding views over the Limpley Stoke Valley, on the edge of Bath, the American Museum takes you on a journey through American history, with its remarkable collection of folk, decorative arts and cultural objects."

This was a surprisingly excellent museum, with lots to see and investigate. I was with 48 eleven and twelve year old pupils and they cared for us very well. Who would have thought quilts could be so fascinating?!! Some of the artifacts are incredible.

Tranquility at its best! A truly lovely well kept gardens and grounds to spend a day or afternoon. I would say my trip there was magical. Lovely area for children to play and cafe for refreshments. Well worth the entrance fee.

Wonderfully different museum that takes you back through time room by room. First class gardens even in November. The tea room was good too with stunning views from the terrace.
