Fashion Museum Bath bath

If you're into fashion then this museum is ideal. I'm not particularly into it but I think the clothes they have in there are pretty spectacular. It's so nice to see real Georgian clothing and they have so many gloves. The staff were lovely, patient and attentive.

Great if you're interested in the world of fashion and history but you might want to leave your partner or children who have no interest at home as there is nothing to stimulated them. My daughter who is interested in studying fashion at uni loved it here and the younger two girls loved looking at all the dresses and trying on the replicas which made the it fun. Great autio guides with detailed information on and there was a good selection of fashion books in the shop to purchase but some are very pricey.

What a gem! Love this place! My last visit was over 5 years ago and how this place changed! Really really enjoyed it! Could spend hours reading and adoring the beauty, detail and the history in those clothes. Don't be shy to grab an audio guide - it's free and there's multiple languages available. Take your time. Don't rush oh, and, just go ahead and dress up! We all would like to step back in time and understand how they felt in all those layers. My first initial comment was "it's like I am wearing a duvet" ;)

This is a great way to see the evolution of fashion through history - individual audio devices show each item and give a 30 second explanation of each plus there's a further, written paragraph giving wider context - eg what was happening in the wider world at the time. Beautiful dresses, coats, trousers and hats and the displays of gloves was breathtaking. I lived the extra exhibition of "glove-inspired" artworks which was placed about halfway through. Thoroughly recommend you spend a few hours here at Assembly Rooms admiring and learning about these beautiful items. Nice tea room (a bit chilly though!) to finish your visit. Bonus - the Assembly Rooms are open and free to look round when there's no meetings etc.

An interesting collection of 100 pieces that showcase fashion over the last several hundred years. There is a complementary audio guide that gives a short talk on each piece, but there are also placards next to each if you prefer to read (the content is different as well, so you can do both!). There are bundled tickets to this and the Roman baths that are a good value, but perhaps this isn't the best if you have no interest in clothes or fashion. Wouldn't recommend for children.

I had such a good experience here. The exhibition was interesting, I like how you could choose what commentary to listen too. A great selection of clothes showing fashion through the ages. Staff were excellent and I felt well looked after with my temporary mobility problem. Nice little gift shop so many tempting books, came home with 2 could have bought many more. Definitely worth a visit for fashion lovers if you are in Bath. Leave a couple of hours and be warned it is at top of steep hill, props to my mister who pushed me all the way up it!

Loved this museum! It was so well done and well worth the admission price and the time. It was very interesting to see real clothes from the 1600's and 1700's and hear/read the history of each of them. They go through the evolution of fashion. I learned so much. They start from the 1600's and then go up to the current time. They have a couple items from Elizabeth Taylor and Vivien Leigh too. The handheld audio guide is free and you can pick the items you want to hear about and type in the number which is nice. I highly recommend coming here.

A very complete collection of 100 items from the 18th Century to as modern as post pandemic, covering fabrics, underwear, footwear, and evolution of fashion overall. Highly recommended for fashion students and everyday people who will certainly gain some insight into the meaning and purpose of our daily wardrobe choices. Free access for residents of Bath and North Somerset with proof of address. Lovely staff.

Lovely museum and you can see the assembly rooms. When you buy a ticket you get the free audio guide to take with you around your visit. Was really nice to spend time there and look at all the pieces especially the shoe exhibition. There’s places to sit and rest for a while, toilets & gift shop so you can easily spend a little bit of time here. Worth a visit.

Beautiful building and very interesting fashion on show at the moment, particularly interested in the recent historic fashion items!! 70s-90s trainers for example! Love a bit of nostalgia
