The location and the staff make this hotel a lovely place to stay. We stayed in a chalet in the grounds of the hotel. It was basic and like the hotel needed the decor updating. The restaurant and bar have amazing views over the river. There's a boat that takes you into Bath city centre. We hired a canoe in the grounds and spent a morning canoeing on the river. We could have hired a motor boat or stand up paddleboard at the same place. We'll be back.

The staff were friendly but the building needs a bit of a clean. It's quite old but the view of the river is breathtaking. The menu is quite limited and there isn't much options for vegans. The bathrooms although some are small are well kitted out.

Poor service at reception - called and never any answer, then at checkout I could not have company information added to the invoice which is problematic for any company so this place is best avoided if tracking on business. The attitude of the General Manager was very poor, he simply said I was wrong (despite every other hotel I stay in being able to add our company details) Room was way to hot with no heating controls and a window that would not open. Damp everywhere and a slightly shabby feel to the place. Overall the only nice thing was the restaurant, poor staff working under such conditions, no wonder the manager is stressed enough not to care

I'll start with the positives: staff is really nice. Location is very scenic. Gave 3 stars only because of the location and view +staff. Otherwise on the lower end of 3* hotels I would say. Room is a bit depressing to be in as it looks like some old factory's office cubicle repurposed as room with a bed that is a metal frame with the most uncomfortable mattress I ever slept in. Muscles I did not know existed ache now. Will probably not return

We were pleasantly surprised. Stayed in the main building, room for 3. Beds were really comfy, pillows comfy. Room was facing the car park and above the main entrance but not noisy. Lot of parking spaces available. Decor was really nice, not dated at all. Everything worked and was well thought through. The gentleman in reception was always happy to help, never tired, never unpleasant, very professional. Restaurant downstairs is gorgeous, overlooking the river and the mill wheel. Good choice of drinks, very pleasant atmosphere and staff. Dining area pleasant and breakfast very tasty with stunning views. Would definitely stay there next time. After a bad experience with a hotel in Cornwall, this hotel definitely cheered us up.

Being a student midwife i was looking for accommodation for after a night shift. The staff here were incredible and was able to accommodate the check-in and check out times i need. The room is very spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. On arrival the staff was very friendly and remember my booking and got me checked in quickly. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back soon.

Lovely spot by the river, spoiled by a poor selection of drinks, pretty average food, and slow, indifferent service. But worst of all: I got a £100 fine for parking in their car park! There were no signs about needing to validate parking - just that the car park was for customers only - but I got a threatening letter in the post a few days later. Absolute shocker. Go to the place on the other side of the toll bridge instead: much nicer all round.

Pay the extra for a room inside the hotel and not out the back if you value sleep. We left exhausted. The breakfast isn't worth an extra £12 either. Good location of you don't want to drive into Bath. Bus links are good or you can do a 3 mile walk a long the canal.
