I've had good experiences with K's for a number of years. Recently, I took my beloved 18-month-old Italian coat in for a quick spruce-up before winter. On inspecting it after collection, it was clear that it was badly faded in a number of places, to the extent that I don't think I will wear it again. I returned to the shop to discuss this. Tariq looked at the damage and explained that it was an inevitable effect of the cleaning, which had simply showed up sun and wear damage that was already there. His only solution was to attempt to dye it back to its original colour, which would be difficult and expensive. I can't comment on the technical explanation, but I do expect to be able to trust a professional cleaner not to 'reveal existing damage', as well as not to cause damage in the first place. They could have explained to me when I dropped off my coat that this could happen, in which case I would have chosen not to take the chance. After it happened, they could have talked through with me what had happened and why. But instead, they just let me leave with the coat and find out the damage for myself. I now need to look for (and spend a couple of hundred pounds on) a new coat; I don't have much confidence that I'll find one I like as much as my old one. I definitely won't be bringing the new one in to be cleaned.
