We went to view and test drive a 2010 Alfa Romeo MITO on Thursday 29th July 2021 which was advertised for £1350. We decided that we wanted the car but the boot wouldn't open and there was an issue with the leaver on the seat, they agreed to sort them out but required a £100 deposit. They told me that they would let me know when the work had been done to complete the purchase.
We arranged to complete the purchase of the car on Saturday 3rd August 2021 but on second inspection of the car we found that there was nothing coming out of the air vents when trying to use the heaters and air conditioning. This previously worked when we inspected the car on Thursday 29th July 2021. So they agreed to sort the problem and would inform us once fixed so complete the purchase.
However on Wednesday 4th August 2021 I noticed they had relisted the car on facebook for £1695. I messaged them asking what was happening they ignored my message. Therefore my husband messaged and managed to obtain the number and rang them to get an explanation of what was happening. They then demand that we pay the new list price to the one we agreed and put a deposit down on. We therefore decided that we wanted to have our deposit back as this is not what was agreed. I messaged them my bank details for them to transfer the £100 however this did not happen.
My husband then went to see them Friday 6th August 2021 to get the deposit back. When he arrived and asked for out deposit back along with the receipt that shows our agreement and deposit paid. They became confrontational and aggressive. It escalated so much that my husband rang the police.
Unfortunately due to it being a civil matter there is nothing the police could do. They still are refusing to pay the deposit back but just wanted to make people aware to avoid all cars adversitied by PD Autodeal Bristol and there other premise Unit 7, Novers Hill, Trading Estate, Bedminster, BS35QY, which they sell there part exchange vehicles from. I would hate this to happen to anyone else. I also have screen shots of both adverts the one advertising the car at £1350 in the 29th July and the other advertising the same car on 6th August for £1695.
