A store which offers a great range of products at reasonable prices. The staff/owners are lovely people that will always try and guide you to a product that's right for you (when asked) and always happy to talk and answer any questions. In addition to the comics, board games bd general nerd memorabilia; there are weekly gatherings to play games there and a place to meet people who share a similar interest. Although I'm biased as i've been using the store for the past 6 years i can say confidently that this is somewhere to go for any of the above needs. I cannot recommend this place more.

The first time we went there the owner looked annoyed as my children were browsing the cards on the counter while he was trying to sell some expensive collection. I thought that was just my impression and maybe a bit reasonable seen the situation. The second time he took the money and did not even look at us in the face. We left without saying nothing since we were invisible. Today nobody was in the shop and when I asked if I could pay by card he arched his eyebrow as a presumably positive answer and when I thanked him and said bye the silence of his coldness and indifference run us over. At this point I legitimately wonder whether customers must be rich to get some normal civil welcome or he just doesn’t like us.

5/ 5

I’m quite new to gaming in general, and have recently started collecting pokemon and MTG cards. I’ve been told in other stores that I “don’t look like the kind of person who would enjoy the fantasy genre”, which may be true, but at Area 51 I don’t feel like that’s a problem at all. It’s a laidback store where the staff, although busy sorting through stock and pricing items, are very approachable, helpful and friendly. As a woman I have always felt 100% comfortable there too, even though MTG and Pokemon can sometimes feel male dominated. Their prices are fair, and the selection of second hand cards they have are really good and well-arranged (it’s not messy like other reviews have said; there’s just a lot in a small space!) One of my favourite places to go on the weekend :)
