Chaplins Fancy Dress bristol

Visited on a day trip, would not recommend this shop to anyone. The man behind the till was very rude to my mother in law, swore at us all and was generally hostile with threatening behaviour. Would advise everyone to avoid this place completely.

Bought a top hat and goggles for my steam punk outfit. The shelves are fully stocked with just about everything you need to impress your fellow party goers.

Would not recommend going into this shop unless you want to be insulted, verbally abused and made to feel threatened: Was on a family day out to Bristol and called into this shop to browse for costumes for an up and coming event. The owner approached us enquiring as to what we we were looking for: after telling him the event theme, in a monotone voice he referenced a host of his products, pointing in various directions around the shop. Such was his manner that it made us all feel intimidated for not having seen what he was now pointing out to us. To get out of his shop, I suggested to my family that we would look on line. Bearing in mind that this was a comment to my family , he butted into our conversation and angrily accused me of being rude and accused us of wasting his time! I reminded Him that it was actually he who approached us, so if he felt that were wasting his time, then that was not entirely our fault. It was at this point that he lost his temper calling me a “cow” and told us all to get out of his shop. He continued his barrage of abuse even when we were outside of the shop on the pavement. His language was disgusting. We were told to “P” and “F” Off! All of this because I had said to my family that we would look online instead of purchase from his shop!! We were all left feeling shocked and horrified. In all of my years of shopping in local business stores have I never met such an foulmouthed badtempered store owner. He should be ashamed of himself as His attitude has certainly put me off going into local run small stores going forward.

Decided to support a local business and buy a few costume items, instead of amazon even though it was more than double the price. Went to pay, with legal Scottish tender but the lady on the till would not accept it due to getting ‘fake’ Scottish notes in the past, luckily I had another method of payment. Overall the guy there was helpful, and had the items I needed but was disappointed as being Scottish we are meant to live in a ‘united kingdom’.

Bad service from rude staff and very overpriced. I would just go on Amazon unless you were desperate for a poor range of fancy dress goods.

Very helpful man who gave me a free map of Bristol and advised me of which attractions to visit. A true gentleman who serves his city with pride. I noticed some amazing and unusual items there which I doubt you would find easily elsewhere, e.g. a pair of psychedelic 1960s style sunglasses!

Extremely poor quality items. £43 joker costume was made out of the cheapest materials and looked nothing like the photo.

Would this place have a Michael Myers costume?

Crowded but well stocked shop. Managed to grab all the piratey accessories I needed at decent prices and the person on the till was a great help!
