The Whipple museum of th History of science is one of Cambridge's hidden jewels. It has a magnificent collection of antique scientific instruments to enjoy - but more importantly for young children, it has a great selection of activity bags and boxes on various subjects. You can spend a great afternoon of explorations!

Compact yet eclectic collection of scientific instruments. There are some very nice pieces but the explanations can be a bit sparse. High points for me was the collection of astrolabes and the globe collection. Although a good collection I felt it could be better curated as it does not always seem to have a discernable logic to the layout. However I enjoyed my visit a lot as I am a fan of such things.

For a campus museum, the collections are above or on par. While in terms of creating dialogues between audiences and collections, I would say the museum is subpar.
