Incredible experience. A lot of people talk about "the AD experience" but Sally and her team at Mappin & Webb in Cambridge really are leagues ahead of the other authorised dealers. I would not hesitate to recommend Sally or the store and will be sure to return. Completely refreshing to deal with people who share the same enthusiasm for the product and aren't just processing a sale.

I came up from London to visit Sally at this store. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like a VIP with the most respect and gratitude. Sally assisted me in registering my name for the Patek Philippe Aquanaut and other things. When I’m next going to purchase a watch, I am definitely travelling again to visit Sally and this boutique. If I could give more stars, I would without hesitation. Jayson Burns

We came to purchase an expensive watch as a present for someone. We were really disappointed in the way that we were treated by the staff. Despite having travelled a long way, we were not even offered a glass of water or allowed to use the bathroom. As a family we have purchased similar watches before and had a completely different experience in London and Glasgow, where if felt that we were treated with respect and it was a special experience. We didn't even get a receipt immediately because they had documented the wrong email address.

Absolutely first class service from beginning to end. I was on a waiting list for some time for a particular item. When going in to collect the item, the staff (in particular Helen, whom I dealt with) did everything possible to make it feel like a special event, despite this being far from the most expensive thing they sell! There was no pushiness, no pretentiousness and assumptions about what I could or could not afford in the future. We spoke honestly and openly about things, which is refreshing in a shop like this. All staff appeared to be like this and the other customers in there appeared to be getting treated in the same way I was. Helen seemed genuinely pleased that I was over the moon with the item, which again, is refreshing. I would actively look to deal with this particular branch in the future and recommend others do the same. As a foot note, several months prior to my ordering my item, I went in to have a watch strap adjusted. I did not state my intention to order anything and only discussed my watch strap. It’s a brand they sell, but I did not purchase it in this store, so expected to pay a small charge. But, the job was done for free. No questions asked and I was treated in the same manner as described above. I feel this goes to show that my purchase experience is the rule, not the exception.

I'd second a number of the views here. There is a general snobbery factor in the staff and a lack of interest in gaining new customers. I know Rolex are in short demand but you could just be open and tell 'potential customers' what the wait will likely be and opening up some conversation with people. It doesn't need to be such a secret that hold for customers to beg out of you. I've subsequently spent the best part of £100k in other boutiques/stores in London & Bedford since my first visit to M&W Cambridge last year, a large chuck of which was on models they could have provided. Alas the whole experience in London was far more enjoyable and welcoming, the staff more attentive and caring and an overall willingness to talk about the watches. Given that there are people in London spending many times your average Cambridge customers total, it is somewhat surprising! I'd recommend a training session for your staff to help remove their pedestals whilst educating them on the basic fact that customers pay salaries. Also you could highlight that whilst the competition in Cambridge is slim, London is 45 minutes away and Bakers in Bedford just a stone throw.

Absolutely impeccable service from first visit to putting my name down on some items to finally being able to collect and purchase. You will need to be on a waiting list for some items as that's how it is for such items and of course being long standing customers will put in better stead. I was a first time buyer yet I felt as well looked after as someone who has been there for 20 years. Will definitely be back. Sally was brilliant, knowledgable and is a huge asset to their team at Cambridge.
