Thrifty Car and Van Rental Cambridge cambridge

Good friendly service. Car was very good. I had to extend the agreed rental period by a day and that was easily sorted over the phone. They do require more documentation than some other rental companies but contact them beforehand and find out what they want before you turn up to pick up the car. My experience was good.

Well what a morning, l can not believe that thrifty in Cambridge wont except your clean driving licence with photo on, plus other cards with your picture on to hire a car. When your car is beyond repair, the engine gone, your on holiday away from home with no unity bills with you, need to get back home. Fortunately my relatives came to my rescue, l did get the car after four 20min trips back and forth to his house. At 10am l arrived at thrifty first time, l eventually got the car at 12.noon then l had a 3 to 4 hours drive ahead of me. He did upgrade the car, the person dealing with us was very curtius.

We used this company whilst moving into our new place and I can positivitely say, NEVER AGAIN. Absolutely appalling service. They have tried taking £250 from us due to a slight dent in the back door which we did not make. When we explained how we knew that this mark was 100% not made by us to the staff, one of them had the audacity to laugh! I have never felt so appalled as a customer and after pointing this out, he quickly made his way off home. When I then asked the staff member who we were handed over to, the name of his colleague, he informed us that he did not know and only knew him as ‘PJ’ which caused red flags straight away. How can a large company such as Thrifty, not know the name of their staff members? I am seriously concerned by this and will be taking further action. During my communication with Thrifty Cambridge, I have encountered three separate workers and each one is as concerning as the last. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL BE SCAMMED OUT OF MONEY.

Completely ridiculous check in process. They require a ton of documents that no other rental agency requests, they don’t tell you about these requirements in advance, and the process to get checked in is conducted in slow motion. There are a ton of excellent rental agencies in Cambridge: use them. Don’t make the mistake of coming here.

Good service,competitive prices

These guys are joke. Supposed to get courtesy car at 4pm after many hours or rigorous paper check. At 5pm, I call them asking where my car is. Ofcourse, it is delayed. Says it is delayed and comes at 5:30. It is 6pm.. These guys are absolute trolls. Dont waste your time with these jokers, gave me migraine.

Watch out for this organization, take a record of every bump scratch and abrasion at checkout. A small scuff incurred from a Supermarket will cost you at least 390 quid or more. Even if you didn't do it they will try to charge for it.

Do not order from these!!!!. I've had a vehicle with these for several months now, as it's who my company decided to use. I'm constantly having to change vehicles because they feel the need to change it every 2 seconds. They bombard you with numerous emails daily just to check a mileage. And when you arrange a time for them to exchange the vehicle, they can't even keep to the timing they agreed to in the first place(Anytime before 12pm, not exactly a small time frame). It's ok THRIFTY just keep me waiting for 2 hours because no one else works for a living. USELESS BUNCH OF .......

They are always great. You do need to be prepared to wait for a while between arriving and getting the car.

I booked Thrifty so I could return on a Sunday. (Few rental companies are open on Sunday, which these days is just daft) Booked the car online on Thurs. Received paperwork electronically. Received a reminder text on Friday. Arrived on Saturday. Booking in took a bit of time, as I didn't have a utility bill to hand. But I had my Driving license code, and all else went like clockwork. The salesman was really helpful and cheery. The van was new and in excellent condition. Met all our needs for moving all my gear. Returned the next day and a different salesman was equally helpful and cheery. We went through the paperwork together and my deposit was back in my account this morning (not the 3 days as indicated). I'm sorry to those who have had bad experiences. I can't fault them. Thank you.
