I'm terribly sorry to report a very disappointing experience that I had today - the 29th July 2019, at around 5pm - at this shop. I bought a few items and was charged £22.05. I paid in cash and asked for the receipt, which had not been offered. Leaving the shop I had a feeling that the cost was more than I expected. I checked the receipt and there were items being charged that I had not bought, like bananas, 'fruits', Naan bread and some unrecognisable item. I returned to the shop and the attendant - he seems to be the only one serving at this time - replied to my concern in a very casual way, not showing any discomfort. I asked what had happened and he said - "it just got mixed up with the previous shopper". But in fact, the items which I had not bought were not the first in the list. They were just mixed up with my shopping. He gave me back the money, which amounted to £5.75, the equivalent of 35% of the total. I am not convinced that it was a mistake and the lack of a apology, or even an expression of concern, was very disconcerting. As a result of this experience, I’m wondering whether there were other similar “ mistakes" in the course of the many times I went to this shop before. In short, I’ve lost trust, which is very sad, since this is a shop that I and so many of my friends visit regularly. What can Spice Gate do to restore our trust?

Great range of spices, reasonable prices compared to other similar shops. Fruit and veg always fresh, I buy my meat here at all times. Try the Arabian sweets, especially the maamoul. I think no other shop in Cambridge has them. Very friendly staff too and convenient opening hours.

This place has the best meat, when I moved from London I was struggling to find good quality halal butcher within reasonable price. I tried a few on Mill road and some others but since I bought the meat from here, I am not going back

One of my favourite Mill rd shops! I go fairly regularly.. The staff/brothers are great, honest, helpful & friendly (not everyone has to always smile, but they still mostly do!) I always feel welcome. A great selection of quality products at fair prices. I really enjoy exploring the variety of ingredients & stocking up on my usuals.🌟
