I was needs driven to go shopping this morning. I had avoided the ordeal for as long as possible but my present footwear which has been around from long before Boris last spoke the truth, was drawing the wrong type of comment from observers of these things. I had phoned in advance of my visit and hence, Vicky (assistant 44) was prepared for me, or at least as prepared as any shop assistant could be expected to be to meet a man as alien to retail as I am. The young woman was the absolute epitome of good grace, efficiency and understanding. Her knowledge of products .their suitability, their availability etc was complete but what changed my anticipated ordeal into a pleasant experience was this young woman's innate and applied ability to relate properly to her customer. Oh yes- I bought the shoes - 2 pairs!
