Thomas Cook Travel Store edinburgh

Although it appears the opening hours are correct on Google maps...... it states on the door it's not closed on a Sunday, however, I've yet to see it open on a Sunday. I've booked a holiday in the past through this branch. It was not bad, the down side was, there was no consistency with the staff dealing with myself. In my previous experiences booking via a travel agent's usually the same person, providing they were on shift would deal/ see you. Which meant they knew why you were there and generally about my holiday, it felt smoother and it was more reassuring. I saw a different member of staff every time, in this branch. I was given conflicting information regarding the foreign exchange, on more than one occasion, it felt like they didn't really know and are guessing? I'm sure I'd be very unlikely to use the foreign currency exchange service they provide. The 1 star is really down to the fact that they STILL have the wrong opening hours on the door. As a first impression I think it's unprofessional. The first impression people get walking into the store, with incorrect information on the door doesn't look good. Particularly if it's been the case for some time. While booking my previous holiday last year I experienced some unprofessional attitudes/ behaviour at times, even if it wasn't towards myself. Nothing that wasn't excusable by having a long/ tiring day though. My visit lately was merely to gain information that was easier to obtain on person than online. The store not being open resulted in my holiday being booked elsewhere. I hadn't necessarily went to book a holiday with Thomas cook, however, it could have been a possible outcome but I'll never know as they were not open. Unfortunate, how much of an impact something so small has had on my impression on the company as a whole. Im happy with my holiday I've booked elsewhere so it's no problem for me. I think it could deter/ loose custom people assuming the shop is open where there's direct competition on their doorstep.

Waited an hour to exchange money and never got service. In the end we left and went elsewhere. Guess they don't want our money. Untrained staff were unable to help us with what we needed.

Closed on Sundays - google shows 11am-5pm.
