Great Museum, well worth a visit.
Great place to visit
Really great history, loved learning about the Royal Dragoons and their impact in wars.
Are you Scottish or a person interested in war history? Go here. If not just pass ahead
A place could learn the Scottish cultures and history. NICE !
This is in response to Mr Fish’s review. I also served with this fine regiment and have never had any issues going to visit the museum . All you need is a bit of common sense and the ability to use the phone . Ex regiment can call and speak to someone who will put their name on the gate . The fees charged are not charged my the museum it’s the charge for accessing the castle . A worthwhile visit for tourists and ex regiment and family alike .
Wonderful place to visit. If in Scotland, should never miss visiting Edinburgh Castle and this museum located within. Keep at least 4 to 6 hours for both
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Regimental Museum lies inside the Edinburgh Castle site. There you can learn all about the entire history of the Dragoon Guards Regiment. From the time it was a cavalry right upon the time it became a tank regiment. When you go up the stairs at the entrance you can see a timeline of all the battles and wars the regiment has fought.
A fine museum within the Edinburgh Castle. Coming from Hungary, I was specially interested in the content, because of our tradition in horse riding and battles fought on horseback through the history. It was interesting to see the details of the history of the Scottish dragoons, their various involvements (even during the World War), and the many aspects of this kind of warfare. For me it was one the most captivating museum in the castle.
