5/ 5

The Scottish National War Museum tells the story of the Scottish military during wars troughout the years from the middle ages to the current wars. There are a lot of displays with original uniforms, weapons, flags, medals, and so on. There are a lot of storyboards that explain step by step all about the naval, air and land armies. You can easily wander around for an hour or longer. As it is inside the Edinburgh Castle area, you don't need to pay an extra fine.

A place to understand Scotland history between the Highlands and lowlands and how Scotland became part of England empire and how Scotland's people were soldiers. Well and proud why they have meaning and purpose for there country and nation.

This should be a much higher rating given the wealth of history on display however the low ambient lighting made it nigh on impossible for anyone in our party to read the exhibit descriptions. A quick glance through some of other reviews suggests this is not a one off.

Very nice museum in a top location at Edinburgh Castle. Nice grouped exhibits, much information and explanation. Different guiding possibilities. As non-UK tourist maybe to much distance in comprehension but that is no problem at all. You pick what you want.

A lot of swords, medals and military uniform. I liked it for the array of quality of craftsmanship as well as the paintings and early documents. I feel you like this kind of museum you'll be very happy with what's on show.
