The shopkeeper is certainly not rude or mean. He’s simply elderly, a bit shy and matter of fact. All three times I’ve visited I’ve found exactly what I needed - wooden floor cleaner, a tall duster, and a laundry basket. It’s a good shop.

Terrible attitude. The man who runs this shop is the most unfriendly person I have met in Scotland. I guess he really hates his job -- and/or dealing with the public. I wouldn't mind paying extra for things (which I have the two times I've been there, though it's closed most of the time) if I was greeted by someone who wasn't mean.

The most rudest guy ever. Attitude is shocking to say the least

Alright shop if you need some basic home needs (cleaning supplies simple screwdrivers mop and bucket etc) but if you are looking for hardware store stuff like drills hooks etc it isn't stocked.

I have to defend Corson. He is not so rude as he is made out to be. He was perfectly polite to me and had what I wanted. Stockbridge is an upmarket area and if the shop was modernised it would be a great success. I went past today 17/12/20 and the shop was deserted and appeared desolate. There is still a market for this sort of specialist shop just take a look at Marchmont and Morningside so Mr Corson should hang up his grey coat and let someone enthusiastic take over.

Got a good deal on a hand plane once, another time i broke a pan handle and that was the closest shop to get new pan. Great shop and i do not expect hardware shop to be sparkling clean with lots of useless stuff. Also i do not consider people answering laconically necessarily rude.

The shop front is filthy, it looks neglected and everything in the window faded. How the owner of this business can find this acceptable is beyond me. The shop keeper doesn’t appear to enjoy running a business and that is reflected in the look of the place. It’s sad because Stockbridge really needs a well run hardware store and this could be it with a bit more attention.
