The service I was given was for retrieving my suitcase from a train (long story), then having it sent by courier to my home. I thought the price for this was reasonable, not bad. The suitcase arrived with me this afternoon 2/11, having been retrieved from the LNER train on 29/10. The two members of staff I spoke to, Stephen or Steven, plus David the delivery driver, were cheerfully helpful...both encountered before I discovered the losses below.
While being grateful to have the suitcase back, I did not expect to have my entire case contents sifted through, and two "prohibited items" removed. I had read the prohibited items list, and agreed to terms, but I don't understand why the perfume I had bought that day as a present for my daughter needed to be prohibited, since it was not going on a plane. I understand the need for safety, but not with no discretion used. Nor do I understand why an empty storage charger for a mobile phone, given to me that morning by my nephew, was prohibited. The delivery docket mentions prohibited items removed, but doesn't itemise them. Surely there should be a countersigned docket, also explaining why these are prohibited? My battered old suitcase indicates I am not a big spender, and as a pensioner, over £50 worth of goods removed is a significant loss. Where do these goods go? If they are still being held, I am coming to Edinburgh on 5/11 and can collect them please, without 'danger' to anyone. I do hope you can keep these for me please.
I'm now amending this review a week laterals upping my stars from 2 to 3. This would be higher, and it is solely to reflect the helpful attitude of the staff I encountered, in particular Liz Poole,. But the system I consider to be flawed, and would benefit from some tweaks, hence not giving it a 4 which I would otherwise do. I appreciated the service, and will contact you separately with my remarks.
