Excellent experience with Alamo, which is serviced at EDI by Enterprise. Their staff was very helpful and courteous, providing suggested routes for the best sightseeing. They are a bit pushy with buying insurance, which is a bit expensive, so be sure to know what your coverage is like before arriving. Their desk is a 5-minute or so walk from the airport following the covered walkway, just beyond the tram stop. Return was super easy and quick. They did a thorough inspection, but there were no additional charges as many others have noted about Alamo and other car rental companies in the UK.

Had to wait two hours for our pre-booked car. On the plus side (without asking) they waived the £130 additional driver supplement and upgraded the car. I would give them another chance.

I wanted to write a positive review to counter all the negative ones. I booked with Alamo but they have a joint outlet with Enterprise at Edinburgh Airport. I was greeted nicely, had prompt and efficient and friendly service, and was in my hire car in about 20 minutes. I had to show my drivers license (UK) and provide a credit card to cover the excess. No grief no stress. The car was modern (keyless) (which caused some confusion) and in very good condition. I'm happy with my experience so far.

I wished I could say what it is like to rent from Alamo/Enterprise. Unfortunately I cannot as they didn't even give me a car. I chose to pay by debit card and got told by the member of staff that additional checks had to be carried out. She took my details, entered them into the system and told me I failed the checks and can't rent a car. No explanation was provided regarding the type of check undertaken nor any reason was given for the failure. Not sure why this is necessary as a deposit is taken anyway. Never renting from this company ever again.

I don't usually write reviews but I had such a hard time figuring out who to rent a car with from Edinburgh that I thought I'd help others out. Alamo (or enterprise, which is the same company) were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Their whole team was really lovely. The car was clean and nice, and the price was super reasonable, even with the full insurance added on top. I would 100% recommend them to any of my friends.

Rip off and bad customer service. They charged $13 per day for an additional driver without mentioning it when signing the contract. So if you rent a week, might as well ask the other person to rent your own car. The price is almost doubled the quoted price. Also, the wait is long... Might as well go with other companies.

An absolute nightmare is an understatement! We recently hired a car to get us around Scotland. When we undertook the rental, we were made aware by the young lady at the rental that there is additional coverage, however we were made unaware explicitly what they were. The young lady’s words were “the tyre and alloys are not part of the coverage.” We took the car way up north and encountered a flat tyre, followed up by a second one; both left, front and rear. Overwhelmed by the situation we rang the road assistance service provided by the rental who completely ignored our request. We followed up the request and the neared contracted garage appeared at our accomodation’s doorstep (which we had to hire on whim due to the vehicle malfunction) 12 hours later. The garage provided us with a replacement and all appeared sweet! We rang up Alamo, explained the situation to a gentleman by the name of Steve and he advised us to pay for any damages incurred to the original motor vehicle and they will reimburse me for it. We went with the advise and allowed the garage to make any repairs as necessary to get us back on the road to Edinburgh to catch our flight back to London. The repair cost us £274. We brought the car back to Edinburgh in one piece and the rental denied reimbursement of our costs to get the car on the road (despite advise providing that they will indeed reimburse it, which Steve conveniently denied saying this) as we had not purchased one of their “protection plans.” We booked this car through “enjoy car hire” and certainly were made not aware by them or Alamo as to such a protection plan package that protects any damage to tyre or alloy. We argued that we were were not made aware that such a protection plan exists and why we were not told that these costs would be our of pocket as opposed to “reimbursed” when we called. Steve’s words were “that is not something I would say.” We feel misguided completely and are now struggling to put the money together as we are all students. By all means, do yourself a favour and avoid this rental at all costs and whatever the f^#k they stand for. We felt like the rental company, the roadside assistance company and the contracted garage were all part of a scam that we completely fell for.

I picked up my car in Glasgow City Center, with a drop-off in Edinburgh. The woman who helped me locate my car told me to ignore the scratches that were already on the bumper of the car, saying they were small enough that they were not an issue. When I returned the car in Edinburgh, the scratches were an issue. Despite my protests, and the fact that I had three passengers in the car at all times that can vouch that I never hit anything to cause those scratches, I am being charged £100 for the pre-existing damages. 0/5 Stars, would never go back with such blatant disregard for customer service, or at the very least due process in a claim dispute.
