I've been with this bank for quite some time and their online presence is really good, but to be honest I was let down when trying to open a joint account with my wife. I had visited 4 times and still nothing had been achieved. The first visit (without an appointment) I was told that if we bring any three pieces of identification we would be able to open it no problem. The second visit ( without an appointment) we were told the documents were not acceptable and the list of acceptable documents are online, pop in any day and it will be sorted. The third visit we were told we need an appointment end of story and we cant be seen so we need to try again but you can still pop in any day and see what happens as we both worked. The last visit we were told (by the guy we met the first time) we need to make an appointment......... but they have no date for 2020 in their diary as yet in 2019, (let me be clear I had asked for appointments twice prior and that's the same story I heard) also the visits were unnecessary and we could open joint accounts online !! I was impressed that I remained professional at that point but I'm not that kind of person anyway. I am really disappointed with that level of customer service, I work in the NHS and I am certain that if I gave my patient the runaround like that for an appointment there would be a complaint and I would be called by my line manager to explain it. What's even more annoying is my wife actually opened a joint account with her bank online in no time. Customer service is very important for businesses to succeed even banks, if you cant manage to have good customer service then close the branch and make everything online. Please remember we can switch to other banks like any thing else.
