More than just a cemetery, York Cemetery is a beautifully unkept haven brimming with wildlife. One of my favourite spots for a wander in York. According to my grandparents, who reside here, it is a lovely place to spend your life beyond consciousness too!

York cemetery is a beautiful site. Management is sympathetic to wildlife. The friends of group are active and welcoming. The site should really be considered a local nature reserve; one of the best spaces for wildlife in York.

I have known this cemetery many years i played here as a child I still visit now such a peaceful place full of wildlife yes it is a bit unkept and could probably use more volunteers to help with the upkeep but a lovely place for some peaceful contemplation

Large cemetary short walk outside the city walls. Large cemetary part unkempt which gives it character. War graves amongst other gravestones too. A really lovely place to wander, full of beautiful trees and worth a few hours to explore.

A lovely place to visit and explore. Especially good for photographers. Come at different times of the year for different views. It's bigger than you think!

The staff here were lovely and very helpful, despite all of the difficulties and restrictions associated with having a funeral during a pandemic. Covid secure measures are in place and capacity in the Chapel is therefore limited, but ramped access and careful administration allowed a respectful and seamless service. The graveyard is very historic, but also still in use. Parking is available for only a few cars.
