Bagshaw Museum and Wilton Park leeds

A small but informative museum. Was astounded by the architecture n intricate wood work in the ceiling and fire places. Lots to see but my favourite was the history of Batley.

Always busy. A beautiful place for a walk in nature, with trees and plants. A good sized area of water which is busy with geese, ducks and moorhens. There is a little playground, usually an ice cream van if it's nice, a train, cafe, bowling green and plenty of free parking! The gardens are always so colourful and the little 'forest' is full of wildlife. Through the 'forest' at the top of the hill is Bagshaw Museum which has a little shop and toilets as well as bit of Batley history. Opposite the museum is a greenhouse which is open during the summer and another car park. Lots of bench seating and animal friendly :) Such a calming colourful place which is well looked after.

How have I failed to visit this gem for so long? I've been to the park so many times but never been to the museum. Came for the first time and today with my daughter and was blown away by the place, its contents and above all the friendliness of all the staff. In the house we received a warm welcome and a brief introduction to where everything was and then in the recently reopened butterfly house a personal tour, a talk on various bugs, use of microscopes and more, the passion was evident. Clean, well laid out, full of content and free, we're lucky to have access to things like this and it deserves all the support we can give it.

A local hidden gem. Definitely worth a visit. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Some really interesting artefacts inside and very fascinating history. The grounds are also well maintained and worth walking through. Check it out!

Loved it. Walked in the grounds only. Nice to park for free and into the museum also. The grounds need some work as they have been unattended as of late, so I hope that they will be restored to their former glory soon. Will be back for another visit.

Beautiful museum, used to come here regularly as a child; have just revisited as an adult and it's as good as I remember! Great for local history and the Egyptian exhibit has always been a favourite. Staff were really helpful and friendly, plus there's also a wonderful little shop! Fab visit 👌

Really enjoyed visiting the museum with my niece, and then visited again not long after with family, the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming, lots to see in each room, and amazing little gifts to buy. Highly recommend x
