We came here on recommendation. The aesthetic was jolly yellow, urban chic meets mid-century modern. Shelves of plants nod to 70's nostalgia. Tea and coffee are curated with deep consideration. Cakes are rustically presented and individually worthy. All the staff take things very seriously whilst bringing an edgy friendliness to the epicurean party. A lovely place to knit!

I stopped into Laynes today while waiting for a train back to London. As soon as I arrived, i was directed to choose any free table that I liked. As I had my suitcase with me, the staff offered to keep it behind the counter so that I wouldn't have to carry it downstairs to my table. I was given time to browse the menu, which was a hard task as there were lots of yummy looking choices. I chose the buckwheat pancakes with bacon and syrup, which were amazing! Service was quick and the waiters/waitresses were very helpful. Price was also a winner. 100% recommend.

I've visited coffee shops/cafes up and down the country. Laynes is easily amongst my top 3 favourites. The coffee, food and pastries are absolutely spot on - you really can't fault them. The staff here have a true passion for customer service and know exactly what they're doing when it comes to food and drink. Laynes has always been neat, tidy and welcoming. I've never left feeling disappointed or unsatisfied. Price wise, considering the overall experience, I believe the menu items are well worth the money. Highly recommend to anyone in Leeds City Centre.

Very good food and very pleasant and helpful staff. Congenial surroundings. The only downside was that it was so busy that they ran out of some ingredients and the 'Laynes breakfast' was off by the time we ordered. The alternatives we chose were delicious all the same.
