Flaybrick Hill Cemetery liverpool

The first cemetery on Wirral. Now closed to new burials. Many locally well known people inturned here, including John Laird from Camell Lairds ship builders. Nice to walk around. Often vandalised unfortunately.

Love this place! Steeped in history, beautifully taken care of by amazing volunteers and completely free to walk around. They open the church a few times a year and the volunteers give you a guided tour. If I win the lottery I promise to help buy a new roof!

Flaybrick Hill Cemetery is brimming with local history and lovingly maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers. It is a great place to wander through when you want some peace and quiet.

Peaceful ✌ and serene

Flaybrick Memorial gardens were beautiful, charming and peaceful. I visit several family members who are buried there, one of whom is George Summers who died on HMS Thetis, he was a Lairds electrician. I also visit a very old family grave of Miss Woodhead of Summertrees in Noctorum. I walk there most Days with my disabled son in his wheelchair and the other who is blind with his guide dog. I have been visiting this graveyard since I was a child . Miss Woodhead and her family had a large elegant cross as a head stone, which is now little more than a broken stump, and my grandfather George had a smart white headstone, of the war grave type, a few years ago that was knocked flat. I am distressed that all the foliage is being ripped away and now there are precipitous cliffs and loosened stones and years old live holly trees have been over cut and now several are dead . The pathways are being made into roadways and now it is unsafe to walk as drivers race about with no concern for children or other visitors. The life is being ripped out of this beautiful place and I am thoroughly saddened by it. Trees are being destroyed and ivy is being ripped up, leaf mould removed, and there are no wild flowers. Flaybrick memorial garden is no longer a place of peace or respect.

This is such a lovely place! It has developed over the years thanks to a team of knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers who clearly have put a lot of time and effort into making it what it is. Dogs on leads are welcome. The guided tours are fantastic, incredibly interesting and informative and take you along a well planned route. As there is a lot of walking, you do need comfortable shoes. Highly recommended the tour!
