Budget book, art, stationery and craft discounter. Also a dabble of collateral items including puzzles, cards, toys and ‘activity’ items. Especially characterised by keen pricing, limited ranges and good value. Perhaps not for the seasoned bookworm. Staff friendly and primed to please.

Some people are good at heart. I took my 4 years old on a mission - find bubbles liquid (not sure what is the actual term for it). We went up and down station road and St Anns road but could not find one since no one makes bubbles in winter! There was one girl in "The Works", I think her name was Aadiya. My 4 years old was not very happy and was tired but still asked her about it. Nope we don't and the poor kid was like "oh I am not happy". Aadiya (apologies if I don't remember the name correctly) took him around the shop and showed him everything possible to cheer him up. When we came out, the little one was still looking for the bubbles liquid but because of the way he was treated in "The Works" he was smiling. Thank you Aadiya (and sorry if I have spelt the name wrong)!! And we did find the bubbles liquid!

Cannot sing enough praise for this shop. It has helped me satisfy my endless need for books, at a decent and competitive price. Once came here without anyonet to hold me back and came back home with 21 new books! The staff are very friendly and willing to help out with recommendations! If I could live here, I would.

Went shopping for a 'Sip & Paint' evening for my daughters 21st birthday and the staff were lovely. I didn't have a clue and they were very friendly and helpful. Special mention for Saeed (sorry of I've spelt it wrong) and the young girl (sorry I didn't get your name). Would definitely recommend and go there now for future supplies.

Went in not too long before closing time, with my daughter and son and because my son is autistic we take a little bit longer to shop. The male staff was grumpy and not very friendly. Its one of my kids' fav shop, so I will still be going in but would be nice to feel welcome, we are spending money, at least £20 per visit!
