Was concerned about other reviews but actually had a great experience renting with Europcar Heathrow (visiting for two weeks from USA). Wait for shuttle at T5 was a bit irritating (bus was at the stop but waited for more passengers and eventually left when none came). When we arrived at the rental building, there were no other customers (Wednesday afternoon, about 4.30 pm). We were helped immediately by a desk agent who offered us bottled water, was sympathetic about our situation (lost luggage by airline) and got us processed very quickly. We had pre-booked the vehicle, provided credit card and passport ahead of time and bought the discounted, fully comprehensive insurance so there was not too much to up sell. We were offered a bigger car (Mercedes) which I declined for a few reasons and then offered a GPS which again I declined. It was not pushed further and we appreciated that. The car was waiting outside and was a low mileage (about 5,000) Peugeot 309. The car happened to have a built in GPS so doubly glad we declined that option. It was a nice car to drive around the tiny British roads for two weeks and we appreciated the economy mode options it had. When we returned the car, the agent checked it over, noted we had the full insurance and wrote on the form we got back that it had previous damage to a wheel - a scrape on passenger-side alloy I think. We were not on the hook either way and I later got the bill on my credit card for exactly what I expected when I booked the car a few months before. I would recommend getting their insurance (with the discount or it is quite high!) if you want a worry-free trip. I will definitely consider using them again for my future UK trips.

Arrived at 22 to the office. There were only 3 people before me in the queue with three people giving service. It took 1 hour (!!!) until I got the car. Do not understand why if you have a reservation in advance service should take so long. The good - brand new car, was a pleasure to drive.

One star because I can’t give zero. Very poor service, complain to customer service and they don’t bother to reply. Received an email after dropping the car off asking for my opinion, I gave my opinion. No answer, they really don’t care. I have have had two long term hires in two years, £3,000 spent, never again. Probably the worst service from any company ever, I simply cannot recall any worse. Finally a response some six weeks after my initial complaint. They say because there is no record of conversations between staff and customers that they will not help me to recover the extra money spent after poor advice. Nothing else I can do I guess except never use Europcar again. Be careful and keep records of any conversation or advice given by the Heathrow staff. Borderline dishonesty from Europcar, exceptionally poor service.

I was picked up from terminal 2. The bus was clean, the driver offered to assist me with my luggage. Less than five minutes to the rental pick up. The staff were fast and efficient. My only concern was no check was done in relation to the condition of my rental before I left. I had to call my agent over to view the amount of damage I noticed when I inspected. I was told to photograph all damage for proof on returning at the end of my rental not how I expect a hand-off. I hope this is not normal policy.

I wanted to post a fabulous review and would have except for the return. The pick up was easy and the car was great. Upon return they give you a 29 minute window before they charge you extra. On the day of our return we were held up on the M6 for over two hours and still managed only to be six minutes later than that 29 minutes but....you guessed it....full extra day of rental. Had I known I would have kept the car for the entire day since I had the "privilege" of paying for it. I don't know any companies that don't give at least an hour. The Statement of Return I signed mentioned nothing about charging me for another day but there it was. I rent in London a lot and everyone knows what the traffic is like. Europcar knows this as well but obviously wants to put profits over customer satisfaction.
