Village Surgery Medical Centre derby

The reception and office staff have always been pleasant and welcoming to me, my DR is great and takes time to understand what's wrong, and the opening hours are worker friendly. There is also a good sized car park and a pharmacy in the building where the staff are really lovely! The only (but also important) main negative is the waiting time, average 30-40 minutes wait on the phone, and usually 1 hour + wait for GP, although I have waited over 2.5 hours in the past. My tip is to go in rather than call, and always get early morning appointments. If you go in the afternoon/evening then make sure to have a good book or downloaded film/series to enjoy.

First and foremost, Denise in reception I would nick name her "The Rottweiler". She has the ability to tear into you as her nick name suggests. She is normally on duty Mondays and Fridays when it is the most busy and the more desperate you need a good listener/appointment.. The practice manager, Verity, just backs her staff if you make a complaint and blames the new telephone system which seems to be the case over a year ago. Unfortunately, they run circles around you if English is not your first language as a classical fob off. I lost trust in the doctors around 2007 time where they promised to ring me back after they made enquiries but they never did. I wounder what Dr Horden would have thought? Definite one star.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Took me an hour to ring this morning for them to tell me no appointments available for me as my matter is not urgent. If I let the problem develop further it will become a matter of urgency. Lady was no help on the reception and did not refer me to anything of use, just a walk in centre where I sat for hours for them to tell me I need to see a doctor.

Just a awful surgery. From the reception staff to the gp themselves, no real communication, forget to contact you regarding test results. Delay referrals and generally just drop the ball constantly.

This place has gone so far downhill. Impossible to contact, reception staff are rude. Used to be brilliant and now it’s horrendous.

0 Stars. My Aunt has been ill for 7 weeks. Finally week 7 the Doctors take a sample. They ring Friday evening to say her results are in. However they can not provide a phone appointment till Tuesday to discuss? My aunt is the only full time carer for her adult disabled daughter who also has autism. Her daughter is anxious, and crying because she thinks her mums dying. The receptionist was helpful and tried to get two doctors to call, however they refused. Disgusting!!! Why not just call Tuesday instead of leaving people is suspense like that. This system is disgraceful and fails the most vulnerable. Shameful service to your vulnerable patients.

Hello Is there a problem with the phone system because it’s not going through fully. I tried on different phones as well ?

Reception staff are ok. One of the gps supposedly call doctor bhassi (male) rude and ignorant refuses to see patients even if they dying. Doesn’t know what hes talking about. Should be struck off!!

Verrryyyyy bad surhery. Avoid

After waiting 30+ mins on the phone to book an appointment (a phone appointment), when I finally had the phone call from the doctor over a week later (which is fair enough, they are busy and I understand), I was told that I am only allowed to speak about ONE problem and also I only have 10 mins. The doctor literally just told me to do my own research online and did not give me any info on the one problem I was allowed to speak about whatsoever, and hung up 7 mins into the call so I did not even get the 10 mins I was meant to have!! This was my 'first' time having an appointment with my new GP practice and I felt offended/disrespected after that call and disappointed that I have to change my GP practice after only being with this place for less than 2 months. The call took place on 19 October, at 16:50 if management want to follow up.
