A wonderful country pub with the quirky, imaginative charm of Heston Blumenthal. Service is top notch, and we had a pleasant experience with two children under the age of 12. There is a dedicated kid's menu, although some or the adult items such as the scotch egg will go down a treat as well. The wine list is excellent, the food is stellar and portions are generous. Strongly recommended.

My overall expectations for food in the UK are a bit low so this is nice, but nothing that special given the Michelin star. Friendly staff and generally reasonable food, but unless you're interested in some specific items here there are many cheaper or more interesting alternative places. Not the same level as The Fat Duck across the road, but pretty reasonable "pub" food. It is a bit pricey for what it is, and I found the starters a bit disappointing. Also overall food was slightly saltier than expected, but I think this is a personal taste issue and the scotch egg and desserts made up for an overall positive experience. Highly recommend the desserts (rhubarb trifle for something a bit tart and chocolate wine slush for a not so sweet, slightly bitter dessert). Also the "something to begin" items seem nice. The starters were a bit too salty (would have preferred less salt and salt on table) or boring and the mains were OK (mine was bit cold). Dinner by Heston (or ultimately The Fat Duck) is a better overall choice if you're interested in a more funky gastronomic experience. Especially as they do not have the tasty mushroom ketchup here for the triple cooked chips. However I'd say the nibbles and desserts here were better than Dinner.

In a little town/village not particularly interesting but apparently full of great restaurants… this gastro pub designed by Heston is great. Probably I had one of my best stakes
