The Galleries, originally the thriving shopping hub of Bristol still remains practical as a shopping

3/ 5

The Galleries, originally the thriving shopping hub of Bristol still remains practical as a shopping centre. However it feels as if it has become unloved since the opening of nearby city shopping magnet that is Cabot Circus in 2008, as a result there are some empty shops and the interior design has become very dated. The individual shop units themselves are no different from any other typical British shopping centre, therefore I have to give this place credit for that and it always appears to be clean. On the other hand, I do feel a great deal of investment needs to be put into the galleries as Bristol's now second shopping centre in order to enhance peoples' shopping experience, perhaps even make it an extension of Cabot Circus, in the way that people could walk from CC via Quakers friars and through the galleries towards the city centre, using this as a frequent thoroughfare and walking route. Sadly unless the galleries is embraced as part of the city's urban design it's only going to become one step closer to closure, which is silly considering the existing building is not that old (1991).

This is the first place I've been to for shopping as soon I have arrived in this country as my wife

5/ 5

This is the first place I've been to for shopping as soon I have arrived in this country as my wife and her family used to work in The Galleries stores as managers and still has that very good first impression it has left me with. I've been to here for hundreds of times and still admire it. Lots of shopping and eating joints with an excellent selection of topmost retail stores and eateries all under a single roof. The facilities are very clean. The security and the staff are very friendly. Bus access right to the mall. Parking is vast and leads right to the mall which is a bonus. Standalone shops and supermarkets are in the vicinity. The Christmas market is a must see and visit. Cabot Circus and other malls are in the vicinity. Definitely worth visiting alone or with family either for some serious purchase or for some window shopping.

On it's way out big time! I park here everyday for work and 4 out of the 5 payment machines have been out of order for 6 weeks, huge queues just to pay to get out. I don't think they've got enough money to pay for them to be fixed to be honest

Budget shops and a few household names besides. Has been revamped quite a bit in past few years. Good place for bargains due to lower retailer site costs.
