The Diplomat Hotel is a unique, beautiful, historical space in the heart of Llanelli. The hotel hosts a restaurant, spa and beautiful grounds surrounding the main building. It's family owned and managed, and this comes across in the service you receive. Can't recommend the place highly enough.

The rooms were clean and the spa facilities were ok. Good value for money. Being a young black couple form London in rural west Wales we was made to feel at home which was pleasant. I would recommend a stay here! The bar staff Patrick and Gavin were very friendly provided 5* service even though they were rushed off their feet. The manager Gavin was great and accommodated our needs as the restaurant was delayed due to being extremely busy but he ensured we was comfortable and kept us updated with times etc. And the steak night is a good bonus!!!! £40 for 2 steak and chips and a bottle of wine Reception were very accommodating and brought up breakfast even though it was past 10 when it finishes. The facilities are a little bit old school like the kettle, hair dryer and bathroom could be updated. As well as some tiling in the jacuzzi but was good value for money.

Room was nice but not clean. Only hot water from taps. Food was poor for the price. Spa Hotel but unable to use as it was booked out. Barking dog in the middle of night. Toilet seat didn't fit so was sat on the pan. Staff were nice hence the star.

Had afternoon tea. Very disappointed with sandwiches, tinned ham cube in 1 small sandwich and 2 slithers of cucumber in another. Wrap was nice and egg Mayo ok. Cakes were advertised as chefs choice but seemed like bought in cakes for majority, saving grace was scone was nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly and can’t fault them. But struggled to comprehend how we could have paid twice! 2 members of a 3 person party thought they would treat the others and both paid 1 at beginning and 1 at the end. There were no other 3 person parties and not mega busy not sure how that could have happened. Did eventually get refund but only after some hassle and had to go through hoops. Not worth the money

Had a voucher for afternoon tea. Impressive hotel on a hill. Lovely views . Afternoon tea was lovely, had ham, egg and cucumber sandwiches, with coronation chicken wrap, scone jam and clotted cream and a further 5 different cakes. I would have preferred more savory ie mini quiche or sausage rolls instead of more cake options. Pot of tea or jug of coffee. Would I go again ... yes i would . Thank you for the experience
