What a wonderful place to visit. It is genuinely old and interesting. The grounds make a nice walk and with added interest being so close to the end of the runway for John Lennon Airport. Not all visitors will like this of course. Friends that we took are not National Trust members and thought it was a little expensive however they were more than pleased and said it was one of the best places they had visited.

I went to this National Trust property about a couple of weeks ago for the first time as we needed to pick our oldest daughter up from the John Lennon airport next door. What a lovely historic building with expansive and well maintained gardens to match. The interactive parts of the tour inside the hall itself were interesting and I found the history aspects to be very informational. Lots of things for families to see and do, well worth a visit.

Excellent day out. The gardens and grounds are lovely, and make a great place for a picnic. The hall itself is great, with quite a few interesting features, like a priest hole. The walk around the edge of the ground is also a great place to watch for planes, as it has a great view of the runway of Liverpool Airport. The price of entrance does seem a bit high though, so I'd recommend deciding beforehand whether to pay extra for entrance to the hall.

A beautiful property brought alive by a fascinating guided tour. There are two types of tour: Victorian and Tudor. We went on the Victorian one. Would highly recommend trying to catch one of these. The story that was revealed provided unexpected historical insights into issues very relevant today.
