Nice and quite hotel. Very close to the Cathedral. The room didn't have a wardrobe and the toilet has a transparent door. No shelf neither on the bathroom. It's nice but I wouldn't come back

The place is lovely and we were going everyday for coffee, beer or nibbles. We were becoming regulars. Until today. We ordered two coffees and were working until Sally, the manager, said that it was not polite of us to not order more because we were using the wifi and the place was not a library. Needless to say, the place was not busy, as you can see in further reviews, it’s a quiet place. Also, we had just had a cup of coffee, we needed a bit more time to order something else. We complaint but the owner replied: “What we don't have the capacity for is to be a library or communal garden space for visitors who don't spend money for the time spent in the environment. A coffee or hot chocolate over three hours is not what we're about.” She also said: “I think you need to get a little bit more real as to what support (and not patronising) means.” It’s quite unwelcoming and they seem to be fine with this.

A beautiful building and interesting furniture and pictures up in the main bar which was a good conversation piece. The bar staff were friendly and the service excellent. We didn't eat but enjoyed a couple of cocktails in the well kept garden after a day spent at the quay . So pleased that you don't have to be a resident to enjoy this experience. Will definitely be returning.

This hotel is very comfortable, with excellent breakfasts, and welcoming and accommodating staff. This was especially evident on our last day when Jack and another member of staff went above and beyond to find us a taxi when we were in danger of missing our train. We would certainly stay here again if we came back to Exeter.

Wonderful place, feels more like staying with friends than a hotel. Warm, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Fab staff, beautifully designed rooms and extra touches like filter coffee and fudge in the rooms. Best hotel in Exeter by far.
