Very rude shop keeper. Have bought lots of stuff here and visited often. Today we were advised to shop elsewhere. Group of other customers left in disgust at his behaviour and I would encourage as many as possible to avoid like the plague. Great other jewellers in York where you won't be abused.

1/ 5

I don’t feel like giving my experience with this shop even one star, but there isn’t an option for minus unfortunately. I am really upset and disappointed with the total absence of customer care I received at Rue B in York. I bought a charming sterling silver bangle there in 2015. I paid £132 and expected to “enjoy it for years to come” (to quote the leaflet that came with it). It also came with an Our Quality Guarantee certificate I was most disappointed when after 3 years 2 cracks appeared in the bracelet. I took it to two different jewellers with the idea of repairing it, however after examination they both told me it was irreparable as the silver had a weakness and I should take it back to where I purchased it and that I should be offered a replacement. I duly took their advice and went back to the shop and explained the situation to two staff members who agreed I should leave it with them and they would show it to the manager or owner , (not quite sure which).I had the original receipt, and the box it came in with the quality guarantee . I received a call later that afternoon from a man named Neil who straightaway informed I had been very rude and aggressive with the staff - I couldn’t believe what I was hearing as at no time had their been any aggression!! At first I thought he must have mistaken me for another customer. He went on to say that I had a nerve to bring the item back into his shop when it looked as though it had been run over by a bus and accused me of not looking after it. I had looked after it, just as I do with my other pieces of jewellery. I had a friend with me when I had dropped the bracelet off and neither of us could believe or understand why this man was so angry. If he wasn’t prepared to replace the bracelet he could have said so politely. Maybe he was having a bad day but no need to take it out on the customer. When I returned to collect my bracelet I was told “Neil” was upstairs but wouldn’t see me and the two staff members who served me pleasantly enough before were now quite hostile and then also accused the friend who had been with of also being aggressive! This was unbelievable as she wasn’t involved. I still can’t believe or understand what happened but one things for certain I won’t be shopping there again as I do believe in customer care, respect and politeness

I ordered a necklace with little silver disc s from Jodie at Hibiscus. It is beautiful, delicate and so much nicer than the pictures. She offers a first class service, keeps you informed of your order and it’s arrives well packaged and intact in lovely gift box. I most definitely recommend Hibiscus Jewellery. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic jewellers we stumbled on whilst visiting York. Unusual pieces of jewellery that really stand out from the rest. Take time to browse...which is a pleasure in itself without any sales pressures...as they have some breathtakingly beautiful pieces. On choosing our piece the staff were very helpful and polite without rushing us...and gift boxed it too. Will be visiting again this weekend.
