A gorgeous, peaceful oasis in Edinburgh. I went on a Monday, so it was not very busy. The gardens are immaculately maintained with a variety of flowers, plants, and trees. Horticulture is not really my thing, so I can't really describe what is truly unique, but there is more than 13,000 living species in the gardens. I was fascinated by the Monkey Puzzle Trees, which I don't think I've seen before. They would make for a very interesting Dr. Seuss like Christmas Tree. All I could think about when looking at them was that I want to decorate them with lights and ornaments. The other quite special area is the Queen Mother's Garden, which is design with a small English maze designed with interlocking E's. The inside of the Memorial is decorated with a pattern of seashells. And there are plants and flowers to represent the different continents. There is a beautiful rock garden, which I thought would be rock sculptures, but it was more rock formations which you could walk and explore. They also grow edibles here, and there is area is used to teach people to grow their own food. There is a lot to discover here. I wandered around for a few hours, and wish I had more time. The Edinburgh Botanic Gardens is worth a visit, and is definitely a top attraction in Edinburgh.

This is a beautifully composed, large park. Well maintained, and quite large with a generous system of intertwined trails. Almost everything is labeled, benches are common, and the views are interesting. Plan on spending several hours, and enjoy beverages or a light meal at one of the cafes. We enjoyed the Terrace Cafe, splitting a nice sandwich and a 500ml Irish pear cider for a light lunch. There are multiple street entrances, and the visitors center is free admission. Glasshouse conservatories charge a small fee.

The garden is beautiful, a lovely place for a stroll or to spend all day enjoying the beautiful plants, shrubs and trees. Enjoy the Japanese garden and other plant collections. Stop off for a coffee or lunch at the restaurant located at the West gate. Climb up to the top and you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of Edinburgh. There is a gift shop and plants for sale. Entrance is free, but there is a charge for a map and entry to the glass houses. The Botanical Gardens are open all year and beautiful in all weathers.

As a keen gardener, I loved the botanical gardens of Edinburgh. If you plan your route well you can see most things in about 3 hours. The Glasshouse is a must see, this is the only part that you pay to see, but it is much larger than one expects from the entrance. Overall a lovely time in the garden, worth visiting.

A peaceful and beautiful place to spend some time. Enjoyed a slow walk outside and then a wander through the glass houses which had so many cool things to see. The shop has a lot of lovely things to tempt you with too!

One of the nicest places in Edinburgh. We had a little picnic on the lawn and it was beautiful. So many interesting plants and very aesthetically pleasing. Large enough to be peaceful and spacious without being so large that it’s really tiring to walk around. There are maps at the major intersections. They also do ‘Christmas at the Botanics’ in December, which is a wonderful event and the perfect photo op.

This place is lovely to visit, even if your not into plants it's so colourful and peaceful in parts of it. Great place to switch off and unwind for a few hours As long as its booked in advance mobile scooters are available for the disabled as well at no cost. Although you can pay a £5 donation if your so inclined. There is a nice outside cafe to get good coffee from as well with a reasonable amount of seating available. Only caveat for next couple of years at least is the glass houses won't be open as a major renovation will be on going for this period at least. So don't expect access to any of them for now. Overall it's well worth a visit though.

I should have gone to the Royal Botanic garden during Summer. A garden which is more than 350 years old with more than 13000+ plants is very well maintained. Even in winter it looks very nice. So will definitely have to plan a visit during summer. There was a lot of decoration done as a part of Christmas. You could easily spend 2 to 3 hours at the venue. The glass house is currently closed for renovation, but still there are various other attractions.

Truly beautiful! My only tip would be to leave a good time slot to visit so that you have time to walk around the whole park. Took off a star just because a lot of the areas within the park that I wanted to see were closed. Definitely worth the visit though!

I enjoyed a peaceful stroll about through the giant poppies and rhododendron. Most specimens are labelled, so you can at least find out the real name of something. The beds are well tended and paths clear. As this is a free attraction, it is well worth a good wander and maybe buy a coffee. A shame that the glasshouses are closed at the moment, but the developments planned will add more interest and habitat areas to enhance the collections. I look forward to going back once the development work is completed.
