Horrible little station with the lacking facilities and a distinctive lack of step free access. The station is only accessible via a narrow and low subway. If you're over 6ft, do take care to mind your head. Both platforms have shelter though the seating on the main platform, inside the shelter, had very wonky armrests. Station has a ticket office and is served by both Thameslink and Southern services

Ticket machines often faulty. Lady who works in the ticket window most weekday mornings is extremely rude and dismissive of customers although to her credit, she knows her stuff. There’s loads of rubbish around the tracks which makes the station look grubby. The stairs on the Hove side have a few rotten stairs... an accident waiting to happen!

I’ve been to Preston Park many times and I really liked seeing more than 10 trains or so after a few seconds or mins and I would recommend for you to do some train spotting if you’ve never been to Preston Park station before.

Every time I've tried to use the self-service machines recently they've frozen mid-way through trying to buy a ticket. Had no problem with them before this week.

I wanted to say a massive thank you to Paddy who helped me today. I’m not sure if he’s usually based at that station but he was there helping with enquiries etc.as there were issues with staffing. He realised I don’t usually travel by train ( forced to by all the sheep who took all the petrol) by my confusion and anxiety. I do suffer from anxiety and depression anyway which was exacerbated by the situation. He was so lovely, staying close by, offering me water and reassuring me he would get me on the right train. Thank you so much Paddy. I really appreciated it 😘

5/ 5

I liked this train station, but I can see why it is inaccessible for people on wheelchairs and parents with prams as I did not see a lift. I collected my train tickets quickly from the ticket machine using a code, so had no problems there. I think it's quite convenient for those who are closer to this station than the main Brighton station. It looks lovely in the morning and it also has an Amazon locker just outside, if needed.
