Superior room was lovely. Exceptionally tight car park so hone your skills. Just managed to squeeze a transit van in but it was fun. Good staff, very clean and nice food. All round very good hotel.

We decided to stay here having seen good reviews for the hotel. Unfortunately, we have given this hotel a two star rating for a number of reasons. Firstly, the staff at the hotel are some of the unfriendliest we have come across at a hotel - and we are seasoned travellers around the UK and around the world. From check-in to general queries, each interaction with staff was torturous in its unfriendliness. Secondly, we booked a superior room. Apart from the fact that the decor reminded us of that one would expect to find in a boy's bedroom, the room was absolutely no different to a standard room. We did get some quarter size water bottles and bathrobes for the price difference, but that is certainly not worth the 20 pounds difference a night. The curtains were not blackout which meant that given we stayed during the summer, the light was streaming in at the break of dawn. Finally, food at the restaurant was dire and nowhere near the quality expected for the prices charged. On a positive note, the cafeteria area on the 1st floor overlooks the river and is lovely to sit at, and the cleaning staff were at least not unfriendly.

Really enjoyed our short stay here. Very clean and comfortable in a river view balcony room. Breakfast very nice and staff really helpful and friendly. . Very short walk to the centre of York. Only issue that needs addressing is of you like the TV the reception on BBC channels was dreadful but hey here to have a look around beautiful York. Was offered another room by the hotel reception. . Just missed the 5 stars because of this but overall highly recommended. Thank you

I very nearly gave a four star , as on entering the hotel we were met with quiet a queue and the one member of staff was overwhelmed. Another two members of staff appeared and the queue was efficiently dealt with, A very comfortable bar area looking out over the river, and reasonably priced drinks, depending on what your tipple was. Our room was very comfortable with full amenities & one of the biggest beds we have ever put through it's paces. A good night's sleep !! The best shower I have come across, in a bath, Even though I slipped getting out of the bath, anti slip mat provided & not used , and a handrail provided & not used. Silly me. We would stop here again without doubt, Oh, and the train station is 5 minutes walk away,

Big cold hotel. Restaurant freezing cold. Corridors cold and rooms take an age to heat (once you figure out how to work heating). Plenty hot water in bathroom, and fluffy towels daily. Beds very comfortable. Only noise late at night was from outside hotel. Large buffet breakfast to suit all tastes. Staff very courteous and helpful.

Heating did not work, (end of November so was much needed) so reception brought up an oil filled plug in radiator, which eventually heated the room. The two lifts were right next to us and kept us awake till early hours for 2 nights. Small shower room which wasn't very clean, shower base was disgusting, toilet was given quick once over by the looks of it and the curtains covered in dust!

Really nice hotel in a good position, just a short distance from centre. Good choice of breakfast, and good sized dining space. Word of warning! We were in room 437 which was positioned next to the Lifts which was a bit annoying as we continuously heard going up and down most of the night. Not to mention the young lads and girls going past when the 'Flares ' nightclub emptied and decided to continue the partying by singing their heads off!! You would be better choosing a room overlooking the river.
