Rude staff and inability to open an account despite the application being approved over a month ago. No communication from them whatsoever and I have had to chase up on more than one occassion with no resolve to the situation. Worst customer service I have recieved from a bank or building society.

I recently travelled to the UK and wished to open bank account. The website says I need proof of address and a "Valid national driving licence from an EU/EEA country" will be enough. A young lady told me it was not possible, that I need a document with my name and a UK address. So I got one letter sent to me of an application sent by the UK government, and decided to go there again. The same lady refused, saying it was not possible since it was only an application. She told it was the same everywhere, and if that were true I would not leave a review. But I decided to try my luck on HSBC and they let me open a bank account there with my EU drivings license. So obviously I will stick with HSBC who helped me when I needed

Didn’t catch his name but the guy working late Monday was incredibly helpful. I had a bunch of issues to resolve including forgetting an old student address and he was very patient in finding a workaround to get it resolved 👍
