What a beautiful serene ride on the Gondola on Coniston Lake. You can hear the water gently lapping against the boat. It's an elegant boat shining from all the hard work to keep it looking pristine. Well done to the crew for the hard work. Thankyou for a lovely adventure. A must do.

Beautiful steam powered gondola. A unique experience with beautiful views of The Old Man. Book ahead as in these Covid days turn up and go is a risk as there are limited seats. You can still hop on and off though.

Such a fun way to cruise Coniston water, soaking up the scenery, spotting historical and fictional landmarks, such as the Old Man of Coniston, Campbell's record breaking attempt routes and, of course, the Swallows boat house and Wild Cat Island. It's the only way to do it, on the steam powered gondola, the unmistakable smell of coal and steam, the polished wood and faux Victorian interior... But it's not Captain Flint's houseboat in either movie - I think it's the passenger boat in the first movie, but with a nicer paint job, but the camera angles make it difficult to confirm. The commentary is interesting for those like me who have little local knowledge - but I was a little disappointed not to have a bit more about the Ransome links. The Campbell information was interesting, though, as was that about the local geography, and other famous people from the area. But the best thing was just being there, on this boat, on this lake, in this wonderful setting.
