Loved the place. Free entry but did leave a donation. Lovely old building, full of character. Plenty of exhibits to look at & enough for the kids to be occupied as well. Liked the vivarium with all the endangered frogs and lizards etc. Also enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits as well. Would reccomend a visit ....

The museum itself is great, lots to see and FREE. However, the exhibits are very informative my youngest children were slightly bored as the information given is in an adult format and there's not much interaction. The live exhibits of reptiles and amphibians are great, and my young children were excited. Also, cafe was a let down with not much of a selection for dinner with only 4 sandwich types and nothing else. So we had to find a cafe nearby for dinner. The coffee and cakes look great though.

Everything you'd expect from museum in a big modern city. Loads of things to fascinate over particularly the T rex skeleton, stuffed lion, birds of prey ,fossils, live frogs and reptiles, silk samples and so much more. Can easily spend a day walking round in awe here.

Took our 7year old grandson, he loved the dinosaurs and fossils, and all the frogs and lizards in the vivarium. We had a lovely day out. Some areas were closed, but we saw the things he was most interested in.

Brilliant place, brilliant staff. I think this museum is far better than the one in London. Some may disagree but that will be due to shear size of the Natural history museum in London. I found Manchester Natural history Museum way better in terms of lay out, items, their history and the who vibe of the place.

A wonderful huge museum I have been visiting for many years, not too far from the city centre. A place where you can spend many hours exploring the different floors. The Egyptian section contains a wonderful collection of mummies and ancient Egyptian artefacts excavated by Kathy Kenyon. The dinosaur floor is breathtaking and a great place for young children. There are regular displays from other cultures around the world too. Too much to describe in a review as there is such a wealth of history, nature and science on show. The museum is closed presently for construction work so I am eagerly awaiting its reopening to view the changes.

Stan is truly gob-smacking, even when you're not 3 years old!!!! This is a lovely old fashioned museum easily reached by bus from the town centre with loads of stuffed animals for the little ones & some very interesting collections if you can get enough time to read them (more than 1 adult needed). Great cafe upstairs & nice shop with science based presents. Also free - what more could you want!!

We booked tickets online and was able to skip the line outside which was lovely. However, once in we didn't not find it very intriguing or exciting. On the website it said The Ancient Egypt section was closed - turns out the whole ancient section was closed. We were in and out within 1 hour. The shop did not have a lot going for it. The cafe was ridiculously expensive.
